GTDC 2003 SUMMIT REPORT

2003 FOLLOW UP REPORT

The second annual Global Technology Distribution Summit was held April 9-10, 2003, at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. There were a total of 135 attendees at this year’s event, a significant increase over the 65 that attended the first Summit held in 2002.

In all, 77 of the industry’s leading vendors were represented by their highest-level channel executives. Ten of the world’s leading distributors also attended the Summit this year. Both the vendor and distributor attendees were president/CEO-, senior vice president- or vice president-level executives, making the Global Technology Distribution Summit a gathering place for the highest-level executives in the IT industry.

Keynote speakers at this year’s Summit included HP’s Carly Fiorina and VERITAS’ Gary Bloom. There was also a special presentation by IBM’s Bob Moffat that detailed IBM’s methods for measuring the channel’s success. Each of the keynote/special presentations was met with enthusiasm from the audience and the trade press in attendance.

The event also included a roster of other channel and non-IT speaker/presenters. More information on each session’s speaker, topic and format can be found on the GTDC Web site at http://www.gtdc.org/summitagenda.htm. Additionally, copies of Summit 2003 speaker presentations are located online at http://www.gtdc.org/presentations.htm.

The Summit was covered by CMP Media, a leading trade industry publishing firm. Related articles can be found at:
