The sixth annual Global Technology Distribution Summit was held September 16-17, at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach. The Summit is an invitation-only event, designed to be an intimate, yet powerful gathering of the best minds in the IT channel. The 2008 event brought together 186 of the highest-level vendor and distribution executives in the industry in what is fast becoming one of the premier networking and collaboration events in the industry.
In all, 64 of the industry's leading vendors were represented by their highest-level channel executives at the 2008 GTDC Summit.
The event was kicked off with a special keynote by Mark Hurd, CEO of HP on the evening of the 16th followed by a morning keynote on the 17th by Matt Medeiros, President & CEO of SonicWall. Both keynoters highlighted the important role that distribution plays in their go-to-market strategies and emphasized the need to maintain the close collaboration.
One of the highlights of the event was the Rising Star Awards ceremony. During the ceremony awards were given out to the fastest growing vendors on their sales through distribution. The winners were:
